Will of James Ramsbottom
In the name of God Amen, I James Ransbottom of the County of Madison
and State of Virginia, being weak in body, but of sound mind,
memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will
and testament in manner and form following to Wit -
First - it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and
funeral expenses be duely paid and satisfied, as soon as conveniently
can be after my decease.
Second - I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Elisabeth
Ransbottom, one third of all my property, booth real and personal
by her paying all the above named debts and funeral expenses out
of her thirds.
Third - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Ransbottom
all the remainder of my property both real and personal during
her natural life. It is my will that the remaining two thirds
of my land be rented out to the highest bidder by my Exors for
the support of may daughter Sarah, and the remaining two thirds
of my personal property to be sold by my Exors at the highest
bidder, and it is my will that my Exors keep this money in their
hads or loan it at Interest. In Case my daughter Sarah should
need or a part of this money, I request my Exors to give it to
her along as necessity required.
It is my wishes that my daughter Sarah should live with her sister
Jemima Nicholson. In case my daughter Sarah should longer that
her sister Jemima Nicholson, then my Exors to see that she is
placed in the hands of some person to be taken care of.
It is my will that at the decease of my daughter Sarah, the remaining
two thirds of my land be sold by my Exors with the money equally
divided among my children that is now living, to wit - my son
Simeon Ransbottom and my daughters Jemima Nicholson, Elizabeth
Jenkins & Emma Jenkins, but in case of the deather of either
of my above named children before the time arrives for a division,
then their share or portion of my estate to be divided among their
heirs.
Lastly - I hereby appoint my trusty friends Dennis Corbin and
Lewis Jenkins Executors of this my last will and testament; and
quardians to my daughter Sarah during her natural life.
In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal, this 28th
day of April 1847
